Multi-Edge 4X Inserts

Higher roughing output with smooth  surface finishes - that sums up the convincing benefits offered by this new development. One look at the cutting geometry of the new generation of "MultiEdge 4X" cutters is enough to make one realize the high degree of performance they can provide. Each Indexable insert has four cutting edges that yield good chip breaking characteristics and the following key benefits:

 - Reduced cutting forces and consequently, less power consumption
 - Increased insert life and higher feed rates
 - Excellent surface finishes
 - Reduced risk of vibration during the cutting process and efficient chip removal

The Indexable inserts are precision-sintered, can be indexed four times, and can be inserted into standard FCT 45 bodies form 2" diameter and up. For very large cutting diameters of up to 20", the well=known Multi-Mill cartridge-style milling system is recommended.

Another feature of the "MultiEdge 4X" is its "MultiC" double coating. The "QN" coating contains a combination of ALCrN and TiN and yields enhanced results in steel machining operations, whereas the "T" coating features TiALN, increasing performances in machining of cast materials

In long reach applications, where poor clamping creates instability, a "MultiEdge 4X" insert and a round insert can be inserted alternately into the cutter body (preferably when the numbers of teeth are even) to yield the following advantages:

 - Double the feed rate than when the cutter is operating with a round insert only
 - Significant reduces vibration
