TWINCUT 45 Degree “Advantage”
Double Negative/high positive! A contradiction of terms? NO! LMT-USA has done the seemingly impossible by combining the free cutting action of a high positive cutting edge with the extreme strength and stability of a thick, negative insert and double negative mounting system. The advantages of this type of system over a standard all positive cutter are many fold.

The actual insert cutting edge is stronger because it has the support of solid carbide behind it. The cutter body itself is stronger because it has more material behind the insert, giving it better support. The negative cutter configuration also stabilizes the setup by actually pushing the work piece down against the table instead of trying to pull it out of the jaws (the way an all positive cutter would). Additionally, the relieved face and outer diameter make this an excellent choice for low horsepower, high speed, blind pocketing work. The face and outer diameter make this an excellent choice for low horsepower, high speed, blind pocketing work. The face relief enables this tool to plunge as deep as .100” or take ramp cuts to the full cutter depth of .281”. Through the use of helical interpolation, we have actually drilled large diameter holes, ramping in at extremely high feed rates using very little horsepower.

Adding to the already numerous benefits of this tool is the fact that this cutter system uses only one sixe of insert over the entire range of one to six inches in diameter.

Double Negative Geometry

Double negative insert position with high positive rake angles works well on a wide variety of materials, and on a wide variety of machines as well. The double negative design is exceptionally strong, offering unsurpassed smooth cutting action. TWINCUT geometry directs downward pressure on the workpiece, thus providing stability.

Positive Geometry
The cutter is designed with a positive rake angle that allows the insert to cleanly and quietly shear the workpeice materials. This not only reduces horsepower requiments, but actually resuces wear on machine spindle bearings, ball screws and other components.

Twincut Geometries
1. Double negative cutter body rakes
2. Inserts with positive chip geometry
3. Thick insert with rigid cross section
4. Large insert seating surface
5. Excellent on steels and cast iron
6. TwinCut-VAstyle-aluminum, stainless, and high temperature alloys
